BENEFITS OF CONCRETE TILE ROOFING:
At Sorensen, we’d never recommend a product we wouldn’t install on our own family’s roofs. Concrete tiles provide a wide range of benefits that make them a great choice for many Colorado homes. Here are just a few of them.
THEY LAST A LONG TIME
If properly cared for, concrete tiles can easily have a lifespan of more than 50 years. They are resistant to wind damage, hail, and even fire. With a concrete tile roof, you won’t have to worry about another roof replacement in your lifetime.
Concrete tiles can be pulverized and recycled after their life is through. On top of that, they’re made from earth minerals and not chemicals, so you can rest assured that this is one of the most eco-friendly roofing systems available.
Concrete tiles are highly reflective and can cut the transfer of heat by as much as 50%. They also allow for natural air ventilation that results in a warmer building during the winter and a cooler one during the summer.
Unless there is an unusually heavy impact on your tiles, you won’t have to worry about them breaking, and reports of leaking roofs are almost unheard of with concrete tiles. Cutting down on routine roof maintenance costs saves you money in the long run.
STUNNING BEAUTY & ENHANCED CURB APPEAL
Simply put, tile looks beautiful. You have a wide range of choices to match nearly any style of home. They can even be used to simulate wood shakes. When you install a tile roof, you can be confident that it will boost the value of your property and have an excellent return on investment.
CONCRETE VERSUS CLAY TILE ROOFING
Both concrete and clay tile roofs are durable and will last a lifetime. However, concrete tile roofs are much more affordable than clay tile. Additionally, modern concrete tiles can easily mimic the appearance of clay, giving you all the traditional beauty of a clay tile roof at a fraction of the price.
On top of that, concrete tiles are more resilient to freezing temperatures than clay tiles are, which makes them the ideal choice for weathering Colorado winters.
Things To Consider Before Installing A Concrete Roof
When you work with Sorensen, you can be certain we’ll never recommend a particular roofing system unless we’re confident it’s the best choice for your budget and roofing needs.
As you’ve already seen, concrete tiles have a plethora of benefits. However, they aren’t for everyone. Here are some things to consider before installing a tile roof.
- Higher initial cost: While concrete tiles are less expensive than slate or clay, they are still more expensive than asphalt shingles, so the upfront cost may deter some. However, this is offset by their incredible longevity.
- Hard to install: Because concrete tiles are heavier, your roof may require reinforcement before the tiles are actually installed. On top of that, tiles must be accurately measured, laid out in a specific pattern, and checked for moisture proofing. Hiring a professional roofer is highly suggested.
- Recommended for steep-slope roofs: If your roof pitch is less than 4:12, it is recommended that you do not install concrete tile roofing.
